Experiments with a Scanner

Hello everyone. Bet you thought I wasn't going to remember this week. But no, mere Pago-Christian holidays can not stop me from reaching my loyal readers!

I apologise for last week's entry. It was little more than a confused mess produced by a man who can't sleep. Granted, this entry is exactly the same in that respect, but I hope that you can forgive that.

Well, what have I been doing? Well, since it's Christmas it's been a non-stop binge of chocolate and Baileys interspersed with visiting relatives, which I've been thoroughly enjoying. I've received numerous wonderful gifts from people, including a new Yamaha guitar from my parents, which is extremely awesome. I've got a new watch, which I like wearing since nobody wears them any more (thanks to the ubiquitousness of iPods and mobile phones).

I like how as I'm getting older and leaving childhood, I'm starting to receive presents that are more geared towards utility and usefulness as opposed to frivolity.

I also received a printer/scanner, which I've been experimenting with today. It, combined with my Wacom tablet, means that I can now convert my sketches into a digital format and indeed colourise them.

In light of this, I thought I'd share with you a picture I drew. It's not very good, my sister got all the artistic genes, but I've not really got much else to show you. So, here it is:

It's of a character called "Dust". He's a Superhero, in the loosest sense of the word, since his only powers are being the peak human physical excellence and being insane to a Lovecraftian degree (that is to say, as insane as something created by H.P.Lovecraft, not as insane as Lovecraft himself who, to my knowledge, was sane though incredibly racist).

He belongs to a superheroic combic-book universe that I've been creating for a while now. I suppose he's pretty much the poster boy for that Universe in my mind.

Well, that's all for now. I'm afraid I'm going to have to say goodnight. Merry Christmas everyone.

Niggling Doubts

Wow, it's really late, ain't it?

Only three days into the holiday and already my sleeping patterns have gone to hell. It's probably not helped by the fact that the only mugs in the house that I could use to make coffee were the size of west Texas on account of us being unable to do any washing-up because of frozen pipes. You see! It all has a knock-on effect!

I think another factor in being unable to sleep is that I've had a niggling doubt all day that there was something that I needed to do and I've only just realised that it was my blog. I hate those unidentifiable feelings of not having done enough in a day. The ones that don't let you sleep because all you can think about is the time you've wasted and are wasting but when you get out of bed to do something, you find yourself too tired.

I tend to find that the best way to deal with these things is to get out of bed and blitz something, regardless of tiredness, so that you can sleep in the knowledge that you have not fully wasted an entire day. After the sleep I nearly invariably find that whatever I did the previous night is a jumbled incomprehensible mess that I cannot believe I am the perpetrator of, such as this blog post.

Hmm, I think the feeling is gradually leaving my system now, I think I've met at least my minimum requirements for the day. So, goodnight folks.

Illness, Injury and Trainspotting

Hello readers. I'm pretty sure that I wrote a while ago that I was not the sort to usually succumb to illness. Well, guess what's happened again. That's right, I have been ill out my tiny mind last week. It was a cold of epic proportions and this time it did not seem satisfied to merely attack my head like the last one, oh no. This one was not sated until it had attacked my entire body. It was a crippling, stay-in-bed-all-day kind of cold, one that I'm not generally accustomed to. It made me lose several days of school and a great deal of my patience, but I'm feeling much better now.

Also, just before my brief time of illness, I tripped up in Drama and landed with my jaw on the corner of a wooden crate. Luckily, that had no negative side-effect except every time I tried to change the expression on the left-hand side of my face it hurt like hell. I'm thankfully better now, however.

But enough of my ranting, what's new? Well, I've bought most of my Christmas presents from town yesterday, which was hectic and unenjoyable. I've been reading Trainspotting for my Book-group, which is really very good, if confusing. I've also recently done a biology mock exam, which I'm very proud of, as I revised for 12 hours on the previous day, despite feeling ill.

Unfortunately I haven't written the review or another short story, but I have started one that I may be sharing with you soon. Take care friends, until next time.

Winter Wonderland

Hello, everyone. Oh deary me! I forgot to update yesterday. Can't believe I forgot. Well, actually, I'm surprised that this hadn't happened sooner, given my overall absent-mindedness.

Well, what's new? I have recently been coming out of the rather silly depressed state I've been in for a week or two. I think this is because I'd been doing a lot of staying up all night doing coursework I should have done days ago kind of thing.

I've been actually sticking to learning the guitar, something which has not happened in all my previous attempts to do so (thank you Sask Strum). It's been affecting my psyche to the degree that I believe this blog is the only outlet through which I have not been bragging about it.

I have actually applied for a job, just yesterday. Anyone who has been keeping up with this blog so far will realise just what a singular occurrence this is for someone as lazy as I am.

The last week has been a pleasant miss-match of activities really, as it has actually snowed sufficiently to warrant three snow days - a rare occurrence in Britain. Unfortunately, it's been making my daily walks extremely trying, if a great deal more fun.

Also, on Saturday I went to see a film - Due Date, specifically. I may do a review of it for this weekend to go on that other blog, which has not been updated for a criminally long time. I've also got to do a short story for creative writing club, so I may just post that up here too.

But, I'm afraid it's once again too late for me. Goodnight all.
